Selena is creative.
I've been a trauma-informed community engagement specialist, cultural connector, educator, Indigenous knowledge translation designer, youth mentor, and entrepreneur for the past 25 years in one capacity or another. Specializing in strategic communications, governance building, and facilitating trauma-informed restorative justice circles within colonial institutions, and homeland/rural and urban community spaces while adhering to Indigenous cultural protocols are key components to the collaborative approach I take. Interorg policy development, executive and team training, content creation, project management and brand development rooted in Indigenous representation, philosophies, and knowledge(s), are what I’m passionate about. I’m a forward planning visionary here for authentic reconcilACTION and change, working with our young people, our elders, and lighting the 8th fire with other trailblazers. As founder of Roar Creative and Consulting Agency, I have a deep knowledge/respect of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis histories, protocols, and values; with a passion for Indigenous initiatives, committed to advancing the aspirations of Indigenous peoples. Swimming through creative pools is what keeps me on my toes in a constantly changing digital landscape of innovation. Album art, report covers, brand kits, websites, and posters. Illustrations, graphic design, knowledge translation, data visualization and detail. Lots of detail. Some say too much. Some, not enough. Organizing and "presenting" 20+ years of my work as a shapeshifter is a daunting process, however far cry above my embarrassing singular webpage that's been up for 5+ years and my kinda-sorta updated LinkedIn. Eeek! This is a top level curation of some of my favourite projects, barely organized. Stay tuned for something more snazzy soon.
